LOCATIONS

Welcome to Sultan Balti House, nestled in the heart of Bracknell at 7 Great Hollands Square. This charming eatery has made a name for itself as a beloved destination for lovers of Indian cuisine, promising an experience that delights both the palate and the spirit. With a warm and welcoming atmosphere, this family-owned restaurant invites diners and takeout enthusiasts alike to savor the rich traditions of Indian cooking.

As a food reviewer for Restaurant World, I have had the pleasure of exploring many culinary gems, but Sultan Balti House continues to stand out. Known particularly for its vibrant selection of vegetarian options, you can indulge in dishes like Dal Makhani, Masaledar Tarka Dal, and Paneer Makhan Palak that hold true to the authentic flavors of Indian cooking.

The restaurant is also proud of its array of breads and rice, including the renowned Balti Naan and Sultan Special Rice, which perfectly complement the rich curries on offer. A standout recommendation would be the Lamb Tikka Karahi that one reviewer passionately described as “the best,” alongside the fabulous Peshwari Naan which, unlike many I've tried elsewhere, harmonizes with the meal rather than stealing the spotlight.

Excellent food, lovely atmosphere, frlendly family owned restaurant. I went to the Sultan this evening with my father and brother. I had a Lamb Tikka Karahi, my brother and father had Pathias (a slightly sweeter flavoured dish with a bit of a kick), which were all amazing. They really do make the best Karahi. The mirch aloo (peppery potatoes) were very good, and the peshwari naan is the best I've had anywhere. Many places I find the peshwari's taste a bit perfumey, but this was wonderful and complimented the food without overpowering the flavours. Still the best Indian restaurant in Bracknell after thirty somethign years, so it is a bit of a shame no one seems to know about it. It was very quiet for a Friday. The staff were saying it's never really recovered since Covid, so they don't serve alcohol anymore and only ice cream for dessert, but people are welcome to bring their own alcohol if they wish. 10/10 would recommend, will be going again.
